Yoga Class Descriptions

YOGA CLASSES

*All Classes are based for beginner yogis and then customized to the attendees.  Each instructor brings their own style and flavor to the class.

Beginner Basics

A 60 minute beginner class that focus on the fundamentals and basics of yoga. Each class is customized to the yogis who attend. This is the perfect class for everyBODY.

Basics & Flow

A 60 minute class, similar to the Beginner Basics Class, while adding in more of the Flow (Vinyasa) style yoga. Working toward a more intermediate style of yoga while sticking with the basics, this class is great for everyBODY; beginners and yogis of all levels.

Flow Yoga (Vinyasa)

A 60 minute Flow (Vinyasa) is a type of yoga that connects movement and breath in order to create balance in the body and mind. From the Sanskrit “to place in a special way,” vinyasa yoga puts together a purposeful sequence of poses with the breath to bring about a continuous flow. Inhalation is usually connected to upward, lengthening and opening movements, while exhalation is often tied to downward, compressing movements or twists. Based for beginners with modifications for intermediate and advanced yogis, this class is a great fit for everyBODY.

Gentle

A 60 minute class with a slower, gentler approach. Poses may be held longer. Some sessions may use bolsters and blankets to support the body for a deeper relaxation. Breathing and meditation techniques may also be incorporated. Perfect for yogis of all levels, ages and capabilities. A class for everyBODY.

Gravity & Grace

Gravity & Grace is Becky’s own blend of a slow, meditative yoga practice that involves long holds in various seated and reclined poses to target the deep connective tissues, such as ligaments, tendons, fascia, and joints. It also incorporates mindful breathing techniques to enhance your presence in the practice. This class is perfect for everyBODY.

Power

Power yoga is a form of yoga that emphasizes physical strength, flexibility, and endurance. It is a fast-paced, dynamic style that incorporates elements of Vinyasa and Ashtanga Yoga. This class is for everyBODY who wants a workout! Generally an intermediate level class that can, as always, be modified for everyBODY who attends.

Restorative

A 60 minute Restorative class is intended to relax as far as possible into the postures, using as little physical effort as possible. The mind focuses on the breath in order to cultivate mindfulness and release tension from the body. Restorative yoga classes tend to be relaxing and slow paced, with a whole sequence using as few as five or six postures which are held for long periods of time. Props are also used often in order to allow the body to be in the most comfortable, supported position possible. This may include bolsters, blankets, blocks and straps. This  practice may be combined with guided meditation. Great for yogis of all levels (everyBODY) looking to get started in yoga or to get a deeper stretch and experience using props.

Yin

A 60 minute Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative yoga practice that involves long holds in various seated and reclined poses to target the deep connective tissues, such as ligaments, tendons, fascia, and joints. Poses in Yin Yoga are held for a long period of time, usually three to five minutes or longer. As a result, the poses are more passive and relaxing holds, with little muscular engagement. Wonderful for every yogi looking to take their first class or deepen their stretch and reset muscle length. This class is so beneficial for everyBODY.

Movement Class Descriptions

MOVEMENT CLASSES

*All Classes are based for beginners and then customized to the attendees.  Mobility Workshops are where you work at your pace and level independently with Steven's assistance.

Step Aerobics

Bringing back the classic step aerobics. This 30 minute class will be a beginner level class that will help you burn calories tone muscles, and improve coordination, as well as so much more.

Mobility for EveryBODY

Each 30 minute workshop will focus on one particular group of muscles or joints, using movement through the range of motion to improve your mobility. This is a workshop that is structured for each individual to focus on their goals, working at their own pace and level with Steven's assistance. So all levels of mobility are welcome, no matter how basic or advanced.

assisted stretch therapy

Assisted Stretch (PNF, MET)

Assisted stretch can be incorporated into your workout plans and fitness goals! Just schedule a short stretch session for when you're at the gym, either before or after your regular workout. You'll notice an improvement in mobility, flexibility, muscle tone and recovery times!

All forms of stretch can be beneficial to the body, as well as the mind and the soul. Assisted Stretch, in particular, is especially therapeutic when performed by a qualified, licensed professional. Utilizing techniques from passive stretching and PNF, the therapist stretches the clients muscles in a systematic and specific manner, deliberately flexing and stretching them with little or no assistance from the client. Assisted Stretch increases flexibility and range of motion, relieves muscle fatigue, releases stress stored in the muscles and joints, reduces joint inflammation and reduces potential injury.

Brooke Winkler of Engaging The Spirit

a little info

Who am I, you ask? Rev. Brooke Winkler, MSSA, LISW-S, ACHT, RYT-500, ERYT-200

Professionally, I started my journey as a therapist but always sensed there was more of a connection between the psychological and spiritual. So I immersed myself in the study of the mind, body, and spirit, and how to bridge them together. I am a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, The University of Akron, and Fellowships of the Spirit School of Healing and Prophecy. I am working on my doctorate in Mind-Body Medicine with certifications in Integrative Wellness Coaching and Creativity Studies from Saybrook University. I retired from therapy in December 2019, after 20 years. I am also an Advanced Heart-Centered Clinical Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master, Psychic Medium, Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Laugh-A-Yoga Coach, MARI Practitioner, Artist, and Belly Dancer. I believe that humor gets us through life and bonds us with others.  And if you want the real deal…I am me. Creative, fun, kind, caring, stubborn, irreverent, and goofy. I live my life happily and attempt to put my best self forward on a daily basis. I put my heart into the things I do. It’s very common for me to be asked, “What are you up to NOW?!?” I laugh often, dance a lot, don’t get enough sleep, and enjoy talking people into adventures with me. I’m proud of my accomplishments and treasure my independence. Children fascinate me. On the Myers-Briggs, I’m an INFJ. I love flowers! I have the best little puppy in the world, Baxter. I keep telling him that, hoping he’ll learn to behave here soon. I’m the middle child–sigh. And I really think I missed my calling as a 1950s housewife…however, everyone laughs hysterically when I say that. That’s me in a nutshell!
